My Students

Kindergarten is a unique and special year in elementary school, there are so many new routines and friendships to be created together. The journey is always filled with social emotional learning and personal growth for students. This year, the joy of learning is mixed with anxiety and uncertainty as many students come to school for the first time in person, after being isolated at home during the Covid pandemic.

My Project

Students will be guided on a journey to learn breathing and relaxation techniques through yoga. Lessons will occur daily to help students be more in touch with their body and feelings. Helping students to self regulate and stay calm will increase their ability to problem solve and take on social and academic challenges. Each child will need a yoga mat to fully experience the joy of movement and relaxation in a defined space. If school were to go remote, child size yoga mats could easily be packed to travel to students’ homes.
