Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is in a low-income neighborhood, where every student receives free breakfast and lunch everyday. Many of my students also benefit from the Regional Food Bank's Blue Backpack program.
The majority of my students are Hispanic and passionate about their education.
Their parents work alongside us to make sure they have the best opportunity to receive a quality education. My passion is for these students to rise above expectations and to succeed in whatever they put their mind too.
My Project
Whiteboards are exciting. They do not seem like a big deal, but they allow you to write, draw, and fix your mistakes easily. There was nothing more exciting than when your teacher got down the whiteboards and allowed you to go wild with them.
Whiteboards make the boring assignments fun!
One way we will be using them is in table races in math, phonics, and spelling. Students will be building teamwork skills as they work together towards a goal of winning points, but also practice an individual skill, as they will be responsible for their own work. They will also be used in a small group intervention for students who are struggling with reading. Whiteboards are an efficient way to write a single word without wasting paper.
