Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are very fortunate to have a great computer lab for our students; however, trying to teach in the computer lab is next to impossible when the one teacher has to run from computer to computer to computer trying to show each student individually what to do.
Our students love to learn, and come to school each day excited about learning.
Our campus serves over 600 students, and the teachers work diligently to include technology into all aspects of the curriculum. All students, from Pre-Kindergarten to fourth grade have weekly computer time.
My Project
The difficulty comes in trying to instruct students about computer usage with no projector to teach with. As it stands now, there is one teacher running between 20+ students saying "click here," which takes a huge portion of instructional time. With this projector, the teacher would be able to display exactly what the student is seeing, and guide them through the process as a class, allowing for more class time, and less running student to student time. In addition, the document camera would allow teachers to display text for students to copy, or directions for students to follow once they reach the assigned website (blog, wiki, etc.)
This projector and document camera would be used by all the teachers on our campus to conduct lessons in our computer lab.
With this students will have more hands on computer time, and less waiting for the teacher to get to them time. Thank you for considering our project, and for supporting public education.
