I work at an amazing school with a fantastic staff and wonderful students. Our school is so lucky to have a supportive community where the focus is on how to best kids' needs.
The STEAM Lab has always been a place for all students to experience hands on learning.
Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, our STEAM Lab has been out of commission. My goal is to restock it with essential supplies and add some fun, new engineering and science- centered materials.
My Project
This year I am working in the STEAM Lab with 4th and 5th graders. This time is used to invite kids to invent, experiment, and innovate in many different ways. Sometimes we work on STEAM challenges and sometimes we focus on science. When I'm not with the upper grade students, the STEAM Lab is open to K-3rd grade to work on their own lessons and projects.
The requested materials will help students explore STEAM and NGSS, as well as become critical thinkers and problem solvers.
This project focuses on a variety of things like engineering and constructing manipulatives such as Keva planks, Picasso tiles, IQ building set, and the 3D creative connecting kit. For science, I've requested safety goggles and replacement stools. The Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will go toward finding science units and STEAM projects to use in the Lab. I've also requested pom poms and pipe cleaners to refill our quickly diminishing stock.
