My Students
Our school serves students in Grades K-8. This fall, I will be the 5th Grade Reading/English Language Arts, and Social Studies teacher for three classes totaling approximately 84 students from diverse ethnic backgrounds! I will also teach Spanish as an after school opportunity to increase opportunity for reading, speaking and writing. To ensure my students learn and perform well during testing season, I am hopeful in creating and implementing a variety of resources to help with differentiated instruction, and tracking their growth.
We are a public charter school which receives Title I funding, with 87% of our students coming from low-income households and eligible for Free and Reduced Price lunches (FRL).
My Project
All students thrive in the classroom when they know they are cared for, they see new school supplies and they are eager to get started. By allowing me to provide them with colored copies of homework, assignments, or even activities, this gets them excited to begin.
Each year classroom sizes are getting bigger, and school supplies and materials seem to be decreasing, having these school supplies will allow us to stay on top of our A game.
Additionally, with continuous implementation of flexible seating will allow students to think outside the box, and work comfortably throughout the room.
I love to include incentives throughout the day for work completion or good behavior, allowing them to “have fun” with literacy games gets them to practice language without them knowing, HA! Who knew ELA could be so fun!!
