Do you remember the first time you read a book by yourself? My students are constantly practicing reading and have begun to read independently.
My students are 5 and 6 year olds.
At home, they have access to technology but wouldn't it be nice if we could offer more technology at school? My students are eager learners and want access to more technology while they are at school. They enjoying using the computer and would thrive if they were able to read eBooks using their new Kindle Fires!
My Project
Imagine walking into a kindergarten classroom and seeing 8 little boys and girls reading books on a Kindle. My students will have access to eBooks and many educational apps that can help them in all academic areas. Yes, I want the Kindles to help me students learn how to read. However, the skies the limit when I am able to access various apps that can help in other academic areas like math and science.
This project is important because it will encourage my students to excel academically while being exposed to 21st century technology.
Reading is the most important skill that students can learn. It allows them to not only learn, but comprehend new things. Reading opens a door for children that will allow them to embark on a new journey that can take them anywhere they want to go.
