My students are 5th graders returning to school after 4 months of remote learning and a summer break. Many students have limited access to books at home and rely on our school and classroom libraries to access high-quality books. When we first went to remote learning in March, students were sent home with only 3-4 books for the rest of the school year.
I would love to be able to reignite my students' love of reading by adding new, high-interest books to our classroom library.
As the majority of my class are students I also taught last year, new books can help spark excitement for reading as students return to the classroom.
My Project
These books will help generate excitement for reading as my students return for a new school year. Because the majority of this year's students were in my class last year, a refresh of our classroom library is essential to catching their eye and maintaining their interest in reading.
Adding variety to our classroom library will help foster enthusiasm and increase reading opportunities, both in class and at home.
The best way to build and improve upon reading skills is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students build a lifelong love of reading!
