This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Please help to instill a love of reading in my students! My students are amazing little beings!

Most of my students have immigrated from other countries in order to have a better life.

English is not their first language. As they navigate through the complicated language of English, I want to instill a love of reading in them as they learn! Our families often do not have the resources to purchase books or technology. I would like to enable my students to be 21st Century readers by providing them access to Chromebooks, comfortable seat cushions and books to inspire them!

My Project

My students often come from homes that cannot afford books or technology. The books that my students read all come from the school, whether it be our media center or my classroom library.

Since I am a reading intervention teacher for grades 3-5, my job is to not only educate my students to make them stronger readers, yet to also inspire and motivate them to become lifelong learners and lovers of reading.

In my classroom, we do not have SMARTboards like the other rooms. I often rely on my cell phone to show my students images of vocabulary words in our books. It would be wonderful to allow them to see firsthand the images on a Chromebook. In regards to Chromebooks, the students need experience with technology in order to prepare them for the work force and education beyond high school. Many of my students have difficulty paying attention during school for a variety of reasons. It would be wonderful for my students to use seat cushions to help them focus while reading.
