Ms. Brown from Chicago IL is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need books to help them develop their reading fluency and comprehension. These highly engaging texts will inspire them to take their reading to the next level.

I teach a wonderful group of special education students who are eager to learn to read! Unfortunately, the majority of my students live in a low income area and receive free and reduced lunch. In addition, the school has experienced budget cuts and therefore we do not have the resources to provide much needed readers for our students.
The new readers will provide exciting topics to explore while at the same time inspiring children to read.
During quiet and guided reading, students will apply their decoding skills, and learn all about exciting topics. These books will serve as great tools because they will disguise the hard work of learning with the fun exploration.
I teach a crew of enthusiastic, but struggling readers. These books will enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. They will fill our classroom library with interesting topics that my children will be eager to explore. The subject matter will disguise the hard work of learning as a fun exploration of the unknown.
For my students reading is a treasure.
The books in the library are chosen with their interests and needs in mind. The multiple copies will allow the students to engage in fun shared readings of these texts and complete projects together.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of topics that will allow them to grow as readers. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more. With this text selection, the students will be able to choose books that interest them, practice necessary decoding skills, while improving their knowledge of the world around them. My students are beginning to show an astonishing interest in independent reading. These books will only help to enrich this experience.
