Mr. Browning from Sandy Springs GA is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need accessible, leveled book series that capture their interest and motivate them to read more and more each day.

Our second grade students are diverse (in abilities and ethnicity), imaginative, driven, and WILD about READING! Because our school is comprised of students with varying language backgrounds, many of our students are just beginning their reading journey. We are determined to prove what's possible in closing the achievement gap by providing every reader with on level texts.
My students are growing daily as readers, writers, and speakers.
They thrive in environments where they can apply previous knowledge, learn new strategies, and think critically. Slowly, we are changing the mindsets of students so they will realize they are in control of their learning and they can create their future. My students often hear the phrase, "When we use what we know, our brains will grow!" Our brains are growing so much each day and we need resources at their level to continue that growth.
The achievement gap at our school between our ESOL students and our English speakers is wide. As a teacher who is laser focused on closing the gap, I need resources to support my lowest students and their supportive parents on a regular basis!
These leveled books will grow my classroom library to support my lowest readers. By having these books on hand, students will have access to texts that they can use in book clubs and reading partnerships at their level of development. Students will grow to love Poppleton, Frog and Toad, Puppy Mudge as their love for reading grows, too. The Ready to Read Series and Step into Reading series provide students with engaging stories that are developmentally appropriate. Additionally, students will have more texts to use for individual reading and to use at home for reading practice.
Students will develop strong reading habits that help them build a literacy life!
Their confidence will grow as they feel successful reading through these series and leveled books.
