Ready Set Read! Engaging Reading Remediation & Center Activties
My students need Reading Remediation and Center activities to boost their reading comprehension skills. Lakeshore offers a variety of small group activities that will inspire and entice even the most reluctant of readers!
Each year, my goal is to create a classroom where my children feel safe and eager to learn. I am privileged to teach a very diverse group of students. Many of my students are a part of military families, while others come from very low income homes. Several of my students receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch and struggle to have their most basic needs meet. Others receive Title I Reading Services, Speech, or counseling services. Therefore, I feel that is an essential part of my job to make sure that I am providing my students with all need in the classroom to ensure they become lifelong learners and productive citizens. I am only able to achieve this with your help. Thank you for visiting my page and taking my projects into consideration. With Appreciation ~ Mrs. Crawford
My Project
A vital portion of an effective Language Arts curriculum is to include reading remediation and center time. This portion of the daily lesson allows students to practice reading comprehension skills that are in need of improvement, while also having fun! The activities I have chosen reinforce basic 5th grade reading comprehension skills, as well as engage students in high interest passages and activities.
Center time is the perfect time for reading remediation because it allows me the opportunity to remediate a small group of students, while the remainder of the class is still engaged in learning.
The activities I have chosen, like Power Pen Reading Comprehension Quiz Cards, will make remediation/center time a real possibility. I have also requested a variety of reading comprehension cards, and center activities such as bingo games and practice activity sets. I know my students would work effectively during this time because they will enjoy these fun, engaging activities.
