Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Ready Set Read! It's a race to the finish with my students! My students love challenges and are determined to accomplish their word count goals. The students come to class ready to read and check out a different set of books in order to help them obtain their goal. My students love to read comic book series and enjoy the humor and animations created through these books.
My students are always ready to pick up a book and begin reading.
It brings excitement to them knowing there are new and exciting comic books to read throughout the class period. My students enjoy these comic books so much they can complete reading these comic books within one day! The enjoyment they get out of books is one of a kind!
My Project
It's a race to the finish! Our race consist of word count goals. Each grade level has a different end of year word count goal they are obligated to meet. My 3rd graders must read 250,000 words by the end of the year. My 4th Graders must read 450,000 words by the end of the year and my 5th graders have to read 650,000 words by the end of the year. I have decided to make it easier for my students to obtain their goal by creating a race. I am trying to get 100% of my students to obtain their word count goal by the end of the year so that we can celebrate our Big Win!
Comic books are the way to my students hearts!
They love to read comic books and if they had different book series such as Big Nate and Dairy of a Wimpy Kid they wouldn't want to stop reading. I would love to give my students the opportunity to read books they love so that they can obtain their goal and celebrate BIG!
