I work in a beautiful, rural county in Florida. Over 80% of the students in our county come from low-income families which make us a Title 1 county. We are a very close knit community where everyone knows everyone. The students in my preschool classroom consists of 4 and 5 year olds with varying learning abilities and styles.
For many of my students, this is their first experience in a public school setting.
Because of this, I want each day to be filled with activities that are fun, engaging and challenging so that every child can't wait to return to school the following day.
My Project
Preschool students are typically very active, energetic learners with short attention spans. My students need opportunities to learn through hands-on activities that are engaging and keep them wanting more. Unfortunately, many of the manipulatives and supplies in our classroom are old, missing pieces, or are no longer usable and need to be replaced.
These supplies and manipulatives will provide students with a supportive environment that will help develop language, math and sensory skills.
Students will use the paint, markers, and stamps during center time to practice letters and numbers in a variety of ways. The colored rice will be used in sensory bins to develop and enhance sensory skills.
