Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are comprised of 12 four- and five-year-olds who are creative, spontaneous, and excited about their first year of school. They also love to interact with their friends during outside play. Some of the students in my classroom are students with learning, physical, and emotional disabilities.
Most of my students come from low-income households, and in some cases, the materials I like to provide for them at school are the only ones they have in their lives.
Our school community is a warm and friendly place where the children thrive to learn.
This year the children are as enthusiastic as ever, they have already made many friends. My goal for them is that they can build relationships in a classroom where they can feel safe and right at home. I would like to have intentional materials handy to be able to keep them engaged throughout the day and be better equipped to enter Kindergarten next year!
Our school is an awesome place where the children feel like they are part of a community. As much as the school would love to provide the children with what they need in the classroom, there are many needs throughout the school.
My Project
The bins will help the children get organized and know where to put their completed work as they finish. It will also give them a place to store their white boards when they aren't being used. The camera will allow them to take pictures of their memories and friends. I will be able to show them the picture taken instantly and also be able to display them in our classroom. It will also be used to give them a picture of what the objective is at each center and they will be used in the picture to show their classmates what the final product should look like. I think it is so important to have the children involved in modeling to their peers as much as it is the teacher modeling. The 3 D and building center will give them the opportunity to create with their own imaginations. They can use this center both independently and in a group.
Help me give my class the independence and modeling experience I feel is so important for our young learners.
