My Students

Diverse. That is how I would describe my students. Each day, students from all different walks of life enter my classroom. Different interests, skin colors, religions, and languages are just a few differences. This makes our classes interesting. We can learn from each other, and that is my favorite part of my students. They teach me just as much as I teach them.

We are a family.

My students are truly happy to be at school. For many students, school is an escape from the difficulties at home. We encourage each other in the good times and lift each other up during the difficult times. These students have created an atmosphere of truly caring for each other.

Well over half of our students are from low-income families. Every student at our school receives free lunch. We also have the largest English language learners in the state. These students make up over a quarter of our student population. I hope to give my students opportunities that they may never have again.

My Project

We all know students come from various backgrounds. Some students want to move on quickly and others need repetition to understand a topic. I hope to meet this need by providing instructional videos for each topic. Students will be able to watch something as many or few times as needed to grasp a skill. To make this idea possible, students will need headphones to listen to the videos. This will allow me to further differentiate lessons. With this lesson format, students will be able to take control and responsibility for their learning. This will help me meet the needs of ALL students.
