My students need updated materials to be used during daily instruction. A new CD/cassette player will be a welcome item to listen to stories and music. We also need a pocket chart, bins and envelopes.
My teaching belief has always been that children are curious and want to learn as much as possible. It is my goal to provide a safe and challenging environment where their minds can be stretched to their fullest.

My class consists of 21 first graders. All the students are on different academic levels and learn in a variety of ways. We are learning in a charter school in a busy city. All the children have a very creative side to them. They like to learn as a team and problem solve a situation together as well as individually. This group of first graders are energetic and highly motivated. Each day is a new adventure.
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting are to organize and update educational materials in my classroom. These items will also help me create a more learner friendly environment for my first graders. First, a reliable cd/cassette player would be used on a daily basis to listen to stories and music, and record ourselves reading. New pocket charts will help us build words, create sentences, read poems, order numbers, and organize anchor charts. The chart stand will allow the sentence strips, word families, and charts to hang free for better visibilty and to remain out for future discussions during mini lessons. The storage baskets will help organize materials needed for small group instruction. I will send home reading materials, homework, and parent information in the plasic envelopes. These folders should be durable to last the entire year. Lastly, I am requesting for a file storage case to house student work and goals. I will leave this box in the back of the room so that students will always have access to academic feedback to better help them achieve their goals.
As a new school year is ready to launch, these new classroom supplies will help my first graders learn in a organized and child friendly environment.
