My students need basic supplies to begin their learning adventure. They need crayons, pencils and journals to record their thoughts. They need glue sticks to participate in art and sorting activities.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This is a bright and active group of five- and six-year-old children. They love to create and tell stories. They love to read and be read to. They are quickly learning to work together which is a vital skill in our world. My children work in small groups and independently throughout the day.
We grow in all areas by practicing and playing together.
Writing throughout the day in science, social studies, math, and even in art helps us in so many ways. We get noisy, but we learn so much together. We need supplies to grow as readers, writers, and illustrators. We need to show the colors of our ideas. There is so much to learn.
My Project
We are an inner-city kindergarten that feeds all our kids breakfast and lunch due to the parents' financial status. My kindergartners often struggle with basic skills and need to practice more than the average child.
Basic supplies must be available right away.
We cannot allow these needs to distract from the learning goals. With this project, we will be able to dive into learning immediately. With less wasted time, we will be able to grow from the start.
We are asking for pencils, crayons and paint to improve all fine motor skill. We need journals to practice writing, which obviously means we need pencils and a sharpener.
