Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
All my students are 3 years of age and are coming in curious about the world and everything around it. What makes them so special is their mindset and innocence. Being that they've only been in this world just a short amount of time, Pre-K is such an important stepping stool and apeek into what is ahead in their up and coming educational career.
Being the person who has the power to have them love learning and feel motivated each day is such a beautiful gift.
My Project
Now that we're back face-to-face, my students will need all the attention-grabbing and engaging material they can get. They’ve been at home for almost 6 months and being back in a classroom setting is once again new for them. New material will not only benefit my students’ learning, but also help me better administer the lessons to them. They love seeing me pullout something new. Due to COVID, we cannot switch classes for the time being. Therefore, all subject matter is taught in our homeroom class. I’ve requested material to be able to teach and have children explore more about science and also material for myself to be able to throw together some crafts in the social studies subject area as well. The dinosaurs material will be excellent to use in our “exploration station.” One of the many goals I have for my students is for them to leave my class at the end of the year knowing how to properly hold writing utensils. The pencil grips that I’ve requested will be a fantastic practice tool for them use daily with their journals.
I want my students to start to know what it means to be responsible and independent, which is why some of the materials requested are ones that I will present and eventually entrust to grab and use with minimal assistance.
