My students need wooden baskets to store art supplies, stencils, colored sand, colored tape, stamps, yarn, paint sticks and collage materials to start off the school year!
Playing, exploring, problem solving, and creativity are just a few words that describe my Pre-K children. Our program is designed to help children be prepared for Kindergarten. My classroom is a NC Pre-K classroom, which is housed in a Title I funded school consisting of Pre-K through fifth grade.
For many children, this is their first school experience.
Our program is designed to teach children within a play based environment that provides children with as many hands-on learning opportunities as possible. These opportunities allow children to explore, problem solve, and use their creativity to learn about the world around them.
My Project
Ready! Set! Go! In a couple of weeks sixteen bright eyed little four year children will walk into my classroom. My goal each year is to provide my students with a loving environment filled materials that promote hands-on learning, creativity and problem solving.
These art materials will allow my students to create their very own masterpieces that reflect their individual cultures and provide many opportunities for learning.
Children can use the stamps, multicultural crayons, paper, craft sticks, paint and other materials to create art that reflects their interest. This allows the children to learn about one another and begin building relationships among themselves.
Emotions are all mixed up at the beginning of the school year. Many of my Pre-K children have never been away from their families. The emotional stencils will be a huge asset in helping children identify the different feelings they may have while at school. As children explore with these stencils, many teachable moments will become available. These moments will allow me to help children learn how to express and control their emotions in a positive way.
These materials will be placed neatly in the wooden baskets to allow children easy access and provide an open invitation for them to come explore. There is no doubt that these materials with help my children be "READY" to explore, "SET" the stage for a positive school year and "GO" create endless art projects.
