My students need dry erase markers for our whiteboards, seat sacks to hold their materials, and miscellaneous craft materials to make our room always ready for learning!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Ask questions: that's what I tell my students. It takes curiosity to make a great scientist. Their goal throughout the year is to become great scientists: each day they work tirelessly toward that goal, asking questions, conducting experiments, and simply experience science!
My students attend a Priority Title 1 school in a low-income community in the DC Region.
My 6th graders this year are amazing students and LOVE to learn. They work so hard each and every day despite many challenges they may be facing outside of school. I love spending time with them and teaching them science each day, we just need some materials to help us along the way!
My Project
I have found that my students learn better with little to no transition time when they need supplies. It takes 6th graders a little bit of time to begin with to complete tasks, and when materials are readily available and close to them, our classroom works much better. Some of these materials requested, like the seat sacks, help the students by placing their needed items close to them, some create diverse ways to engage with the material (the dry erase markers and craft materials), and others add to our incentive system for the students. Overall, these materials will aid our classroom is being the best environment it can be for the students to do their learning and exploring!
Very simply, these materials will make our classroom operate smoothly.
As a teacher, I aim to address all student needs, and these materials allow more student needs to be met with more ease.
