My students need to take to take STEM to a higher level by becoming the pilot of mini drone and at the same time learn about robotics and engineering!

My Students

I would describe my students as "outdoorsy." They love to come to STEM! It is one of their favorite subjects as they love getting their hands dirty and learning about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in a fun-filled, hands-on atmosphere.

I find my students to be inquisitive, enthusiastic, and wanting to try new experiences where they are challenged to invent, build, and create.

Our school is located in a rural part of northern New Jersey, away from the major highways and because of this many of our parents have long commutes to work.

My Project

Drone mania has struck around the world with people flying high using a variety of multi-rotor devices we all know now as drones! I want my students to be able to capitalize on this and at the same time, teach them 21st century skills that they will use for a lifetime!

By grabbing their attention with drone technology, students will also learn about the physics of flight, electronics, robotics, and programming.

I chose mini-drones and quad-copters as they are are good starting point. They can also be flown in our gym at any time of the school year. Students will learn about safety, laws and regulations, flight basics, and the many uses of drones!
