My students need a sensory table, paper goods, and other resourceful materials to assist me in making effective math and literacy learning centers.

I have been teaching for 11 years and this year has been the most difficult because of how much our community has suffered from Hurricane Harvey. Even though I have lost my home and cars, it doesn't compare to the loss these families have experienced in our community. They have lost a lot if not everything and having to start over. Unfortunately, we had to start school late and missed some days due to inclement weather, but we are looking forward to completing a successful school year no matter the circumstances.
Hurricane Harvey will not defeat us but will help us grow stronger together as a community.
It is my job to help and support them the best way I know how during this difficult time. Every morning I see their smiles as they say, “Good Morning,” and it gives me joy to be there teacher. I will do my best to help my students and their families get back to some type of normalcy even it is supplying them with the simplest things. Education is the always the key to success and providing my students with effective instruction and fun experiences is what I plan to do.
My kindergarten students engage in daily learning centers to reinforce what we I have taught. They also learn new skills and at the same time improve their social-emotional development. My students learn better when they experience a variety of fun learning games. The materials such as cardstock, paper, scissors, glue, lamination, ziplock bags, tape, and clipboards will be used to create exciting math and literacy centers to fit the interest and academic needs of all students. The students will be able to utilize these centers to practice letter recognition, rhyming, reading skills and number sense. The materials will not only help replenish what was used at the beginning of the school year but make a tremendous impact in their academic progress while focusing on daily objectives.
My students are filled with excitement when they see new learning activities in our classroom.
My students are smart, inquisitive, and very eager to learn. Along with the new materials, the sensory table will allow students to explore and engage in sensory play while improving their fine motor skills. They get bored when working with the same centers and need new ones to finish out our year. To have these materials will be beneficial to my student success and play a major role in preparing them for the upcoming year.
