Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have a small school in a small country town. My students have been raised in an area that values character, leadership, family, faith, and community. I have 40 awesome students in my culinary program that are determined, well behaved, and self disciplined.

We are in our third year of our newly established culinary program, and with any new program we still have a lot of gaps to fill.

Luckily, we were accepted into and started our ProStart program at the beginning of last year. I am so eager to get my students up to speed so that we will be able to compete at a regional level for recognition and scholarships.

We are looking to build a career/technical program that will push them towards their goals in the hospitality and tourism industry and have them career ready right out of high school. We know that your contribution will make this opportunity and experience for these students a productive and successful one.

My Project

Like many CTE programs, we find ourselves at the other end of the building, in our building, or isolated on our own island. While this might be the norm, it comes at a cost for accessibility.

My class needs accessibility to printing and scanning without having to leave, not only our classroom, but traverse across the entire campus to retrieve a simple recipe, or print a class assignment.

Having an all-in-one printer in our classroom will save us time, stop class disruptions, and allow for scanning capability so that we can create pdfs which can be submitted electronically....ultimately saving paper.
