Help me give my students a reading space with a rug and beanbag chairs, culturally relevant books, and gameboards (including Monopoly, Jenga, and Sorry!) to play when they earn time to celebrate in the PBIS student lounge.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Students at CHS are resilient, innovative, and independent. In addition to these characteristics, our students are encouraged to display the values of our school. These values include being ready, responsible, and respectful. Students at Central are asked to display these values throughout each part of their day. From walking in the hallways and attending class to eating lunch in the cafeteria, we challenge our students to rise to the expectations of both our school and the district.
Students at CHS who are ready, responsible, and respectful are awarded through our school's Positive Behavioral Intervention & Supports (PBIS) program.
My Project
In the CHS PBIS lounge, students will have a designated place to celebrate their consistency with living up to the values in our school. Students who come to school ready to learn, while showing responsibility and being respectful will receive a quarterly admission into the lounge. The creation of this lounge will be an incentive to encourage all students to show up as their best selves each and every day.
In this space, students will have an opportunity to either lounge quietly and read a book or fellowship with friends while playing a board game.
We will even serve treats in the lounge for those who've earned it. Help us reward them in awesome way!
