My students need 6 sets of above-level nonfiction texts to continue to feed their big appetites for reading.
"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go," Dr. Seuss wrote and I couldn't agree more!
My twenty kindergarten students are bright, high achieving kids that love to read.
They enjoy listening to Dr. Seuss' silly stories, creating imaginative watercolor paintings, and watching Magic School Bus movies. They attend a charter school in Colorado that always keeps expectations and fun at a high level!
This set of guided reading books will continue to challenge my young, book hungry students. I will be able to instruct guided reading lessons more frequently with this great variety of above level books. My students will also have more books to take home to practice reading with their families.
This project is so important to me because I want to see my bright students challenged.
There are few "above level" literacy resources in my classroom, therefore many of my highest achieving students are left to read books below their optimal instructional level.
