My students need a kitchen set, grocery store toys, and other items for a place set aside for dramatic play because the value of this free unstructured play is where the true learning begins.
In August, 25 precious nuggets will enter through my kindergarten doors, some of them stepping into a school for the very first time. These students are eager to learn and make new friends. My job as their teacher is to not only make this transition as easy as possible but to support them every step of the way.
I want them to feel comfortable and excited about their learning from the moment they enter.
Their expectations and anticipation are at an all time high and I hope to succeed in keeping it that way!
My Project
So often my students are entering a classroom for the first time. These children have never been to preschool and often times have never had an opportunity to interact with other kids.
This dramatic play area will allow my students the opportunity to work with others and pretend, imagine, and be creative.
When they step into our KidKraft Ultimate Kitchen and make dinner for their family or go grocery shopping in the Melissa and Doug Fresh Market Grocery they will be using and learning social skills that they will carry with them forever. It is a place that promotes high level thinking, problem solving, and active engagement. No matter the level of the child they will feel successful during this time.
