I have a classroom full of wonderful, excited and eager Kindergartners that will be walking in the door next year - some starting school for the first time. I want to make sure they develop a love for learning at this young age and want to come to school each day, ready to learn. Unfortunately, unlike their more affluent peers in the state, our classrooms are not equipped with supplies that our state and district suggests.
Having an adequate amount of and a variety of developmentally appropriate supplies in our classroom will allow students to have a smooth transition throughout their learning experience.
Every year I am more and more amazed by the joy, friendship, and growth my students show through the year. I strive to make sure that our classroom is a fun, bright hands-on safe haven where all learners are able to grow.
I teach in a Title I school where many of my students face hardships that I can't even comprehend; yet, they walk in every day with a smile and an eagerness to learn! I want to make sure their love of learning continues to grow by providing my students with developmentally appropriate resources and material!
My Project
To keep students engaged, I create centers and workstations for them to practice skills. We need laminating sheets and printer ink to help complete this project. We are also in need of new play food. Our old food and dishes are damaged and worn out. The students would love new pieces to add to their dramatic play center where they engage in great conversations and problem solving.
The classroom should be a place where the students feel comfortable and welcomed!
Currently, our rug and furniture are so worn and tattered. We have not had any updates to our classroom in many years. I would love for my students to have a new, and more importantly, clean rug to sit on! We spend a lot of time throughout the day as a group working and learning on the rug.
