Help me give my students a new book to celebrate their completion of kindergarten and build their personal libraries.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
The students we serve are energetic and eager to learn. Many, however, face many barriers before they even come into the classroom. Our school is a Title I school serving a community suffering from high poverty. 100% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunches. With two homeless shelters in our boundaries, we serve a diverse community of students. Many of our students have never had the opportunity to experience preschool in any way.
Most households do not have access to resources and experiences at home, which makes keeping up with the demands of our education standards difficult.
In kindergarten, we strive to educate the whole child and in doing so, allow each student to experience a cross-curricular approach to learning. The children in my classroom love to play, discover, and learn new things. They are our future!
Research shows that many students suffer from "Summer Slide" before they enter the next grade. Although many of my students entered kindergarten without any preparation for school, they have learned a lot. They are now at or above grade level and are eager little readers.
By donating to our project, you will not only get my young students excited about first grade, you will help them learning to read, and build their personal libraries.
Research also shows that when children have their own libraries, they are more likely to be successful with reading and in academics.
I wish to gift each student with a new book to get them excited about first grade and excited about reading!
