My students need stimulation with hands-on materials to learn to build words and complete sentences. These items will encourage creativity in their learning!
I teach in a charter elementary school that serves students from grades PREK3-5th grade. I teach a lively group of first grade students. These students are so excited every day to come to school and learn and grow. Each day is a new adventure with them, and we never know where our creative minds will go to grow.
Some of these students come from low socioeconomic situations.
These students have such a desire to learn and grow each day. Some students just need that little bit of extra encouragement to know that they can succeed.
My Project
My students need markers, flip-books and other phonic materials. Having these materials in my classroom will allow a different approach to practicing the same skills they practice with paper and pencil. These materials would be used in a group setting and would allow students to learn to work together and collaborate. The sight word cards would allow students to manipulate words into making complete sentences that make sense.
My goal is that these materials would bring a new found joy to my students learning in reading and writing.
First grade students love to learn and I would like to offer more opportunities for hands-on experiences that will make what they are learning stick longer.
