This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are eager to learn. They are curious and desire structure. Although the school year has just begun, my students are already questioning and exploring their learning environment. They enjoy stories on the rug and love to share with their classmates. I admire their willingness to help each other and share their thoughts and ideas. My students are from diverse backgrounds and it is important to me that they work together to build a positive school community. With your help, my students will benefit from being able to express themselves and have a place where their hard work can be captured and expanded upon.
My Project
This reading and writing center will enhance student learning by giving us one central place to share. The center is a multi purpose work station that minimizes clutter and provides a space to hold our necessary resources for learning throughout the day. It will accommodate our need for a place to create charts, model writing, capture our ideas and hold materials such as markers, pocket charts and to write the day’s objectives. It will serve as a meeting place, a focal point for our time on the rug and throughout the day. The center will also be used as a work station during reading workshop and math.
