Our students with special needs are contributing members of a K-12 fully inclusive campus. Their daily curriculum is STEM-driven, and most students enjoy the hands-on aspect of project-based learning. Among our school ohana are aspiring writers, athletes, artists, scientists, and budding engineers.
Our students do not allow their disabilities to keep them from reaching for their dreams.
As teachers we work hard to limit barriers on campus and guide students to become resilient lifelong learners.
In 2018 we were blessed with an amazing new K-12 campus. It was a project 20 years in the making and we are beyond grateful to have all grades under one roof in a beautiful building. Along with this move we were able to grow our student body and now serve many more students in a full-day program. While this growth is amazing, it means we need to stock our resource cabinets with additional manipulatives and supplies to meet the needs of our diverse group of learners. We would appreciate your considering in helping us fund projects that provide students with continued hands-on learning.
My Project
When reading is colorful and engaging, students are excited to learn. This project is designed to bring literacy alive for our youngest struggling readers and budding authors. The Touch and Read Phonics sets will allow beginning readers the chance to engage in multi-sensory activities, touching, hearing, and seeing words as they go.
Sentence strips and pocket charts help emerging writers organizer their thoughts and build paragraphs with their teachers and peers.
Build-A-Sentence and Flip Book activities provide repeated practice opportunities.
Using these resources as scaffolds, students will have the tools needed to support them in accessing their general education curriculum. Mahalo for your consideration in supporting this project to help students learn to love reading.
