Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are 6 and 7 years old. I haven't met this year's class yet, but I love them already!
First graders are full of energy and soak up learning like a sponge.
They love to read, write, and explore numbers. They need repeated, hands-on experience. This year, I want to focus on my students becoming effective writers. They deserve the best classroom environment possible, and they need supplies! (Just imagine some cute little kids in that empty classroom photo.)
My Project
My students need writing journals and whiteboards to practice their writing and record their ideas. The whiteboards will also be used regularly for math. It is important for students to learn to express themselves through writing and pictures at an early age.
I will be focusing on improving my writing instruction this year, and these supplies will help me achieve my goal of student success!
The TIME for Kids magazines will allow for up-to-date nonfiction reading and writing practice. The magazines will also allow me to easily incorporate science and social studies content. Students love the colorful, high-interest magazines.
