Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
With a class of 31 students, differentiation becomes a crucial tool to make sure every student learns what I teach, at their own pace, and with the right support.
My students are clever, motivated fifth graders, who are always asking thoughtful questions, all the time!
They are always looking for new ideas and information. Our school is in a wonderful, supportive community. Our parents work hard to raise money to maintain our classroom, in the face of serious district budget cuts. However, there is little left for upgrading teaching material.
My Project
I am in need of having the right material to analyze writing techniques and comprehend texts at a deeper level. My class is made up of capable students who are reading from 3rd grade level up to 10th grade, so having this material in class would provide some deeper thinking to all of my students, according to their academic levels.
Figurative language, text structures, point of view, finding the mood and the tone , and word choice are lifelong lessons for every good reader.
In addition to this tool, I would like to surprise all my students by adding new comfort floor seats. This will be used when students want to either read independently or edit their pieces of writing.
