My Students

First grade is my dream grade level. They are independent, but still wanting assistance. They want to teach others what they know and how they learn. My students are so helpful and willing to do new things to learn. My school is a title 1 school located in Newnan, GA. We’ve gone through some much in a year from COVID to an EF-4 tornado, but we are strong! We love to have fun!

In my classroom we focus on building relationships, diving into our interests and finding our love for learning.

I do mostly small group instruction with guided reading and flexible grouping in the classroom and within my grade level. I believe in targeting instruction to help each student group individually.

My Project

My plan is to purchase a writing curriculum through teacher pay teachers that targets different types of writing. My team and I purchased the beginning 6 weeks of the writing curriculum at the start of this year. This helped our students begin the journey to become more confident in their writing. I want to give them the skills to not only become great writers, but editors of their own writing. Writing is a way to express not only your creativity, but your interests and feelings as well. Writing is shown to improve spelling and phonics as well. I hope to be able to build a group of confident and expressive writers.
