This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I love each and every scholar I have the joy of servicing. My school demographics are mostly composed of African Americans. My scholars come from challenging environments, which would seem to be a hindrance, however, it pushes them to excel even more. We each have our own bond that allows me to build a special relationship with each of them. Some of my scholars have some type of learning disability or struggle to manage their emotions but that does not stop them from wanting to learn and being excited about it. Each has their own learning style which makes them unique and allows me to creatively reach them. I want to eliminate as many barriers as possible to establish meaningful and creative avenues to foster their learning journey.
My Project
I have noticed a need for additional reading fluency and comprehension skills.
These materials will help students read grade level text with fluency and comprehension.
The writing journals in this project will keep students work organized and allow the students and myself to track their progress. The games I’m requesting will also engage the students all while making learning fun, which will help to foster positive relationships with their peers. The pandemic has created a tough road ahead, but with the right materials, we’re ready to do the hard work.
