Help me give my students snacks and supplies to be successful in the classroom! Reading Workshop is our most favorite time, but snacks help us stay focused and flair pens will help us stay organized in our reading!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In this class, there are 17 beautiful young boys full of potential and energy. We start our day by saying, "In this class we are family, we speak kindly, we work harder and smarter, we know we are world changers". These boys are told from day one that they are chosen to be in this class because they are the best, and we must act like the best to show everyone else. My class is comprised of students from different cultures and different economic backgrounds. One hundred percent of the students in my classroom receive free breakfast and lunch and many of them face difficult circumstances outside of the classroom. Life as a 6 year old is difficult enough in this world, but when outside factors begin to play a negative role, the classroom becomes even more important. Teaching life skills and love along with reading and writing is what the day is all about.
My Project
Reading Workshop is one of my students' most favorite time of the day. Students spend time independently reading and reading in partnership all around the room. We most recently have set goals for ourselves and are keeping track of how much we read through a reading log.
Organization is an overall weakness for my class, and I believe the felt tip pens and Post-It chart paper will help us organize and track our reading progress.
Instilling these organization skills early on will help prepare my students for years to come. Study skills are rarely taught in isolation anymore, integrating these skills in first-grade reading with these new tools could really benefit my students in the long run!
Often my students lack focus and are hungry during morning reading workshop as well. The Nutri-grain bars, peanut butter crackers, and fruit snacks will help feed hungry bellies and refocus my students setting them up for reading success.
