My class is made up of 28 students from a variety of backgrounds. In fourth grade, we work on not just academics but also learning appropriate social and emotional skills to be good students, classmates, and people.
My students are curious, energetic, and excited about learning.
They love working together in groups and playing different types of learning games. One of our favorite things to do is to sit and read and talk about books together. It makes me excited that the future of our world is in my classroom.
My Project
Reading workshop is an essential part of our learning day. We spend our reading workshop time in teacher led small groups and independent and collaborative group learning stations. The books will be used to help reach my lower level students. By using a book, at their level, that is interesting to them they will be more engaged in their reading. Listening phones are a great way for students to read out loud quietly and hear themselves as they read. I have many games listed that will be a fun and exciting way for students to practice skills, such as vocabulary, that we are working in class.
My students need supplies and materials to engage, challenge and excite them so that they can learn while in independent stations.
When students are not in a teacher led station they are independently working on their own learning. This allows students to practice what we are learning at their own level and by having a variety of materials available, it allows for more students choice and engagement in learning activities.
