This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I would put my students up against any students in the nation! We are a rural, small school district with 100% free or reduced lunch. As a Title I school, we do need assistance in extra funding for classroom supplies.

I have begun teaching the SREB Essentials for Literacy with my senior class this semester.

It is necessary for this course to read two novels chosen by the SREB. Because the funds have been used in the previous fall for our school, I find myself in a conundrum of how to provide a classroom set for my students.

I respectfully and humbly request help in providing a classroom set, used or otherwise, for my students in order to provide this much needed course and ensure their success as they embark on their higher education.

My Project

My seniors began the course SREB Essentials of Literacy in January. This is our first class offered to our seniors who have at least the subscore of a 15 on the English portion of the ACT. Ubik is a mandated novel they must read per the requirements of the SREB. Because we could not start until the spring semester, funds for classroom materials were depleted late last fall. It is with much hope and gratitude for your generosity that I humbly ask you give to our need. We thank the generous donor who supplied our needs for the other novel.
