My Students

I'm a new teacher who took over my first classroom in January of 2020. My students are housed in one of the best schools in the county as far as being a family unit that is always there for each other. Being a Title I school, resources are a necessity to help continue to build the academic future of our school community.

Our district is helping all students develop the world-class skills of the profile of the South Carolina graduate by ensuring that they are exposed to the four Cs: critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.

My Project

My students must keep up with the latest advancements in education to spark an interest in reading. Education is changing every single day, and so are the interest of my students. Students in my classroom like to read about characters like them which is why you will see a large number of diversity books being requested. Also, struggling readers will often pick up cartoons and books with pictures. You will see a large number of new graphic novels.

Students who read these graphic novels find reading fun and begin to read more for enjoyment!

Helping students begin to learn that reading is fun is a perfect way to build better readers. My students will love getting their hands on all of these new books!
