My Students

Our scholars are hardworking, intelligent leaders. They strive to do their best every day. They read in their classroom and with their teachers, but don't always have the materials at home to become better readers. What if we could give them reading materials to take home and KEEP?! Think about how much their critial thinking, literary skills and overall educational foundation could grow if this was possible!

The scholars at our school are LEADERS who deserve every unique oppurtunity we can give them!

A lot of our scholars are low income and do not have the means to have reading materials at home. If this project can get fully funded, our scholar leaders could become the leaders of tomorrow!

My Project

Reading is a critical skill in becoming a strong leader and scholar. The Inchy Bookworm Vending Machine will be a huge part in achieving that goal for our scholars. We are a Leader in Me Lighthouse school who also uses PBIS which is a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support system. The Inchy Bookworm Vending Machine can help us obtain our Lighthouse status as well reinforce our PBIS system.

Strong leaders are strong readers.

That is what our scholars are striving to acheive everyday when they walk through our doors. A lot of our scholars come from low income homes and this is a way to encourage reading and give them materials that they can keep and use at home.

How it works is golden tokens are given to scholars who are exhibiting good behavior. Then then take their token to the vending machine and pick a book that they would like. They then get to keep this book and bring it home. It is theirs to keep! This is huge for a lot of our families who don't nessacarily have the means to buy them books to encourage reading at home.
