Help me give my students hot dots to help inspire a love for reading and early literacy. The hot dot talking pens and reading sets will motivate my students to want to learn and practice early literacy skills.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
When my students begin school in August, they are five years old. Approximately seventy five percent of them are English language learners, many of whom are brand new to the language. Over ninety percent of the students at our school are a part of the free or reduced-price lunch program. A majority of my students come from multiple family homes and apartments and have very little to call their own.
My five and six year old students need reading materials in their classroom that will allow them to have fun and learn at the same time.
Sitting at their desks doing paper and pencil work is not what is age appropriate for my students. This creates a high energy classroom filled with children who are ready to get their hands on new and exciting experiences while they engage together!
My Project
The reading and phonics hot dot activity sets will make reading and learning exciting for my students. The skills they will practice go far beyond learning letters, sounds, and reading words. They will reinforce focusing on one word at a time, return sweep while reading, and make reading a fun experience.
The Make Your Own Hot Dot Sets will also allow me to create my own assessments and activities relating to our district units and curriculum.
I plan to use Hot Dots at a literacy center with a parent volunteer who can guide the students to use the Hot Dot pens appropriately.
