Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I personally understand the struggle that my ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) students encounter, being a former ESOL student myself. For this reason, my goal is to provide my students with much needed materials and resources to afford them the best possible opportunity to excel.
My students are eager learners with big potential, and I want to provide them with the necessary tools for their academic success in the classroom as well as in their future careers.
My students have a world of possibilities; they just need the proper tools to succeed.
My Project
This project has been created in an effort to motivate my students to increase their reading potential. I want to be able to provide my students with the desire to read more and more which will impact their learning in a positive way. I am requesting career books such as "Police Officers Then and Now," and books like "A Day in the Life of a Nurse." My students have expressed how much they enjoy dogs and therefore I also included informational books about dogs such as "Beagles" "German Shepherds" and "Chihuahuas."
Increasing reading will help strengthen their brain capacity and attention span.
Third graders are expected to read for about 45 minutes daily, and this is a very challenging task for an 8-year-old. This reading goal can only be achieved with daily practice and hopefully I can create a love for books that will carry on, well into their adult lives.
