Reading What They Love!!!

My students need 35 copies of "Diary of A Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules" to continue reading the series. This will keep them motivated and reading.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Keep My Students Reading...Reading books that are of high interest is hard for my students. The Diary Of A Wimpy Kid Series is a popular book among 6th graders and they are motivated to read the series yet we do not have enough copies to conduct a novel study as a class.

The students in my classroom are mostly underprivileged students whose parents live below the poverty level in the city of Chicago.

Our school is a neighborhood school centered in a gang populated area. But our students make the choice to come to school everyday to get a great education and make sure they do not turn out like the "street hangers" they pass everyday.

My Project

I received a donorschoose.org project of the Diary Of a Wimpy Kid book one two years ago. This book has become popular in my class. The book I am requesting now, is the second book in the series and the students have been requesting it in our school library. The book will not stay on the shelf. Our school has two copies for more than 700 students. With a classroom set I will be able to conduct novel studies and boost their reading ability using these books that appeal to their age group.

This book appeals to the students in their age group as they move on through middle school.

This project will help my students become more motivated to read and choose reading materials that they are interested in.
