My students need Warrior Cats because these books are highly requested and with a minimum budget these higher reading leveled books don't make the cut year after year.
What I love about my higher level students is that they are looking for interesting and engaging series. They know what the like and are not afraid to ask over and over. Did you know that gifted students are also in the Special Education program, most people do not realize this fact.
My students read at a higher level and are given an opportunity when selecting voluntary reading material to read widely from a variety of sources but they often have difficulty finding something they want to read.
My students are looking for complicated and involved stories.
My Project
The power of series books: my students love them. And because they love them, they get lost in them; they turn page after page. My students have requested the Warrior Cats series. So, I am asking for more hardback Warrior Cat series books to enhance our library. For the use in a library the hardback books hold up to the use of multiple users.
Voluntary reading involves personal choice, reading widely from a variety of sources, and choosing what one reads.
The higher reading students have less choices at their reading level and deserve choices too. Perhaps it’s the comfort of knowing the characters that makes them so enjoyable. Perhaps it’s the cliffhangers at the end of each chapter that make us need to stay up for just one more chapter.
