My students need Scholastic News for 2nd & 3rd grade.
Our classroom is filled with the poetry of Shel Silverstein, the adventures of Jack and Annie in The Magic Tree House series, and the humor from The Wimpy Kid series, but nonfiction has not captured their hearts yet. But watch out once our voracious readers get ahold of Scholastic News magazines!
Our students are delightful, motivated, inquisitive, and fun!
Our classroom is 48 2nd and 3rd grade students at a constructivist charter school in California. We are also a magnet school so students from many different backgrounds and cultures get to know each other.
With the Scholastic News magazine, the students will get to know the world outside their classroom door. They will immerse themselves in the Year of the Dragon festivities. They will learn what life is like in South Korea from the perspective of a twelve year old girl living in the capitol of Seoul. They will discover the world's smallest frog in Papua New Guinea. They will see what events inspired their favorite authors as they read the interviews from kid reporters. They will discover the possibilities of their world and within themselves.
The Scholastic News magazine will spark these kids on their journey though the genre of nonfiction.
They will learn about their world as they become aware citizens who can think critically.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
