My students are in a small school in a rural farming community. The students in our school have diverse backgrounds and a variety of needs. My classroom is a vibrant classroom including an outdoor classroom where the love of learning is instilled in each child. My students all have strengths which, I love to figure out and give them meaningful opportunities based on those strengths. Second graders are energetic and motivated. My students benefit from active and engaging hands-on learning.
The students in my class love working in groups and sharing collaboratively about their learning experiences.
My Project
The basis of this projects is to give my students an area in our classroom where our reading tools are organized and readily available to be used when needed. Students need different tools based on their needs. The reading highlighters are used to block distractions while reading, strengthen visual tracking skills, and
assist focus and concentration.
The reading cubes can be used to strengthen phonemic awareness and vowel sound identification. The tubs and paint pens will be used to organize and label the supplies. The clear bins will make it easy for students to see and to access necessary supplies.
