Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are made up of 30 children ranging in age from 3-5 years old. Combined they demonstrate a wide range of abilities that range from 18 months to 6 years old. I also have many children who speak another language. The children are currently learning at home, where most of them do not have access to an electronic device or the internet.
The parents of ALL my students are trying so hard to keep their children engaged, however many parents do not have the resources to do so.
The parents of my students who receive special education do not have the tools and resources to help their children engage in and practice skills they were working on at home.
My Project
These materials will provide developmentally appropriate books for all children in my classroom. The Eric Carle books in both English and Spanish will allow more families read together at home. The flannel stories will help students working on many skills. For example, following along in a story, answering comprehension questions and retelling the story to their families. These flannel pieces will also help students engage in a read aloud longer. Having books at home will help children gain a respect for books. These books will increase book handling skills as well as their concept of print. Parents can help children r
