Reading to the Core
My students need 30 Daily Comprehension Journals for reading practice.
My students are reading fanatics! They love to read, but are still struggling with some of the comprehension strategies.
My school is a high needs, low income school.
My students come to school eager to learn and go home eager to share what they have learned. They are energetic, bright and dedicated students who have a love of learning. Our school provides a safe and accepting learning environment which enables our students to grow.
I am requesting 30 Daily Reading Comprehension books for the Common Core Standards so that each student in my class will have a book of their own to work in. They will be able to take the book home and show their parents what they are expected to do while reading so that parents can help them with comprehension as well. The books allow the students to practice test questions and read all types of genres. The students like the format that it is broken down into because it makes it manageable and they are not overwhelmed with information or questions.
By donating to the is project, you will be helping me to provide my students with a comprehension tool that they can take to and from school to keep parents informed and involved of reading expectations.
You will also be providing my students with a resource to reading various genres and complete tasks that are manageable. They will develop a sense of accomplishment which will carry over into the classroom and their lives.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
