My students need 50 novels of "The Truth about Truman School" to read and study in my class. This novel will help bring awareness to the dangers of cyber bullying.
Cyber bullying...A problem for "today's" teenagers! As a middle school teacher, I have seen the problem increasing with the use of the web...Facebook...Twitter...SnapChat..."Social Media". Because of this danger, I ran across a wonderful novel titled-The Truth About Truman School.
This year I am pleased to teach the accelerated students...they love to read!
It is challenging with today's budget to afford interesting novels. My school is not one that is affluent with endless supplies. They are very appreciative students who are very enthusiastic to learn and I am challenged with the "budget" of our school district hindering resources. Our school is a rural one with a diverse socioeconomic culture. Some of my students just can't afford to get the reading material they love to read.
My Project
Because of the decrease in school funding, I am not able to order the novels that I need for my classroom...My students love to read and there just is not enough material available. "The Truth About Truman School" will benefit the middle schoolers because it presents the topic of cyber bullying in a realistic way! This is a huge problem for middle school students...could you imagine being bullied on the internet and how many people this would reach! What a horrible thing!
I believe with all my heart that students deserve a fair chance and should not be bullied...especially on the internet with social media!
As a teen, I was not faced with this problem because we just did not have computers! I've seen all too many teenagers be "ruined" by this...just think of how many millions of people see the slander and how embarrassing! The books I am requesting to be donated to my classroom will raise awareness and help students to realize how they can help.
