Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in a public school in south Dallas with 16 incredible students who just came back from being at home and learning through a device for over a year and a half.
I strongly believe that reading is the key for success.
Strong readers can learn anything they want, get to know places and imagine while they read for pleasure.
My students love read alouds every morning and also getting the opportunity for choosing a book for independent reading. They are always amazed when they discover new facts about animals, the universe, plants and other topics.
My Project
Having access to a variety of engaging and diverse texts will help my students improve their reading fluency, enhance their vocabulary and develop an interest for learning new things.
Offering engaging informational texts that can awaken their curiosity for science, social studies and real world situations will develop their love for reading while learning.
Part of our daily routines include a read aloud, independent reading and partner reading. These routines combined with analyzing what has been read will give students the strategies they need to be successful readers and become long-life readers.
